According to their information, courtesy of journalist Matt Law, Tottenham are facing a ‘sell to buy’ summer and could have to green-light the sales of top players in order to facilitate their own recruitment plans.

Atlético Madrid are seriously keen on Cristian Romero as one nominee to raise funds, and the Argentine is believed to be seriously pursuing a potential move to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano (Marca).

However, Spanish media are also reporting that there is a large gap in valuation between the clubs as things stand. Meanwhile, another key first-teamer who could depart is right-back Pedro Porro.

Some reports suggest Tottenham are prepared to sell Porro this summer and value the ex-Man City defender at £50 million. Everton are also expected to open talks for Richarlison, who could potentially leave Spurs in the event of a reasonable bid, following a 2024/2025 campaign blighted by injuries.

It will be intriguing to see which notable players could make their way out of the N17 exit door, as Levy and co look to reinvest funds into the squad whilst erring on the cautionary side of PSR.

One player who they already have an agreement to sign permanently for 2024/2025 and beyond is striker Mathys Tel.

The Frenchman is on loan from Bayern Munich, with Spurs possessing an option to make his stay indefinite for around £51 million.

That is according to Sport Bild, who also report that Ange Postecoglou’s side are keen to whittle that price tag down after Tel’s mixed start to life at the club.

However, Levy is personally keen on signing Tel permanently and re-negotiating a deal with Bayern. Vincent Kompany’s Bavarians, for their part, are also willing to restart talks and settle on his final price at a cheaper value, which is good news for the Europa League finalists.

While the 20-year-old boasts just three goals and a single assist from 18 Spurs appearances to date, Tel has displayed flashes of brilliance since his arrival in the Premier League, with ex-Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann once backing him to eventually score “40 goals a season” and sharing an expectation that he could become of the world’s best.

“He could become one of the best strikers one day,” said Nagelsmann. “I have the vision that he can score 40 goals one day. But I would be happy with 10 goals in his first season.

“He’s a young, talented player. He can play in multiple positions: as a centre-forward and on the wings. He’s very quick and strong with his body. He can hold up the ball well with his back to the goal.”

Liverpool took a gamble when they signed Darwin Nunez in 2022. FSG have a way of doing things on the financial front, you see, and that modus operandi is built on the premise that data-driven analysis dictates the strategies.

As per Football Insider, Victor Osimhen is still on Liverpool’s radar as FSG prepare to cash in on Nunez. After completing a successful loan spell with Galatasaray, Osimhen will leave Napoli this summer.

Valued at £67m, the Nigerian striker has also piqued the interest of Manchester United, but Liverpool will hope European football, a title-winning team and more stable conditions will hold sway in the race.

Al-Hilal had been pushing to sign Osimhen, but a deal fell through after the player made known his preference to remain in Europe. The door is very much open for the Anfield side.

Man City edged Arsenal in each of the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 title races, with Arteta’s side battling Pep Guardiola until the very final day last year. However, it was close but no cigar, and Arsenal meekly surrendered the latest Premier League crown to Liverpool by a seismic 10 points.

After many seasons steadily building the project, Arteta has undoubtedly transformed the Gunners into an elite-level side, and this was evident in the Champions League last season when they put 15-time European champions Real Madrid to the sword.

The progress made has been clear, but Arteta has still come under fire for Arsenal’s lack of trophies over the last few years.

New sporting director Andrea Berta has been tasked with backing the Spaniard this summer, and Arsenal are set to sign both midfielder Martin Zubimendi and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga (The Times) in what is a real boost.

However, their lack of a prolific striker is seen as a major elephant in the room. It is by far the position which supporters are most keen to see strengthened, with Berta working on deals for both Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

The former has been central to a tense transfer saga, with Sporting publicly denying claims that Gyokeres can leave for £60 million and their president, Frederico Varandas, taking aim at the player’s agent.

The “underrated” striker’s 54-goal haul in all competitions last season helped the Primeira Liga giants lift their first domestic double in two decades, and Gyokeres won’t be leaving for Sporting until one of his suitors meets his asking price.

Arsenal do possess a trump card, namely reliable reports that Gyokeres is prioritising a switch to the Emirates Stadium (Fabrizio Romano).

Now, as per talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Gyokeres is apparently convinced that he’ll join Arsenal, and has even made this clear to his close circle.

“I had a message 24 hours or so ago suggesting that Viktor Gyokeres has told friends and family he expects to join Arsenal,” said Crook on talkSPORT Breakfast earlier this week.

“We know that Manchester United are interested in signing him as well, obviously there is that pre-existing relationship with Ruben Amorim.

“But Arsenal can offer Champions League football, maybe can offer a tilt at the title next season. Sporting are going to play hardball, there’s been a fallout between Gyokeres and the club because his agent has suggested that they had a gentleman’s agreement he could leave for £60million, I think they’re looking for nearer £80m.

“Arsenal are juggling both him and Benjamin Sesko, they’ve opened talks with Leipzig as well but at the moment, I would say Gyokeres looks the more likely.”

The player’s willingness is crystal clear at this point, but Sporting’s demands remain a major roadblock, so it will be very interesting to see how this consistently evolving story unfolds over the coming weeks.

We’re now just a week away from the start of Celtic’s pre-season fixtures.

Next Friday night, Brendan Rodgers’ Hoops will make the short three-mile journey to Glasgow’s south side to take on Queen’s Park at Lesser Hampden, having demolished the Spiders 6-4 in a friendly almost exactly 12 months ago.

Both returning hero Kieran Tierney and new third-choice goalkeeper Ross Doohan have already signed for Celtic this summer, with deals for Callum Osmand and Benjamin Nygren close to being finalised too.

However, due to Celtic’s position in the global football food chain, they’re always in danger of losing a star player, and this summer is no different.

As has been widely reported by Josh McCafferty of the National and elsewhere, RB Leipzig have ‘intensified their interest’ in Nicolas Kühn, who is supposedly available for around £15m.

Well, now, according to Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports News, Como have ‘made an approach’ as they target a move for Kühn.

I Lariani finished tenth in Serie A last season under Cesc Fàbregas, their first top-flight campaign since 2002/03, but are not your ordinary newly-promoted club, given that they are owned by the Djarum Group, making them the wealthiest club in Italy, as noted by James Horncastle of the Athletic.

So, potentially creating a bidding war could be good news for Celtic, as they seek to drive up the price for, what is set to be, one of their biggest sales of all-time.

Regardless, it appears very likely that Kühn will be sold in the coming weeks, so has Rodgers identified a potential replacement?

As reported by Glasgow World, Aston Villa are open to selling youngster Louie Barry, to ease their ongoing concerns about breaching the Premier League’s Profitability & Sustainability Rules.

Thus, they add that Celtic are ‘weighing up a potential offer’ for the 22-year-old, given their long-standing interest in Barry, who they have been ‘keeping close tabs on’. Previous reports have suggested he could be available in and around the £12m mark.

Barry first made headlines by joining Barcelona’s fabled la Masia academy in 2019, before returning to England a year later, signing for Aston Villa for a reported £880,000.

He’s since been loaned out no less than seven times, making the biggest impression at Stockport County, scoring 24 goals in 43 league appearances for the club, with Sam Byrne of the Manchester Evening News describing his performances for the Hatters as “absolutely electric”, adding he “captured the imagination” of all supporters.

As the table outlines, Barry very much burst onto the scene at Stockport this season, scoring 16 goals in just half a campaign, before moving to Hull in the EFL Championship, featuring just four times for the Tigers before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

Jack Manship of Total Football Analysis labels him a ‘highly-rated prospect’, while Mick Brown of Football Insider believes that Barry is ready to take the next step in his career and make a permanent move away from Villa.

Barry can be deployed centrally or on either flank, a position that Celtic might have vacancy to fill in the coming weeks, thus making him an ideal replacement for Kuhn.

The young attacker is certainly an extremely talented player, so the Hoops should do all they can to secure his signature, especially if they can do so at a reduced rate, with Villa needing to raise funds and fast.

  Arsenal will be hoping that Gyokeres can continue his prolific form in the Premier League and help fire them to the Premier League title. Former striker Jeremie Aliadiere, who was part of the 2003-04 title-winning squad in north London, says the new arrival will have to adapt after joining Mikel Arteta's side.
